Abstract

A study on the use of information technology in the digitization of Arabic manuscripts. The study begins with a brief overview of the origins of Arabic manuscripts, then discusses the use of automated systems in processing manuscripts, then presents a number of Arab experiences in the field of using manuscript systems, which are Egyptian and Saudi experiences. The study addresses the digitization of Arabic manuscripts and its characteristics. The technical specifications necessary for the digitization process and its material, human and financial requirements, then explains the goal of the digitization process, and finally the study presents the most important results it reached.
