Abstract

The information society is the society that depends on the production, availability, investment and circulation of information to develop the fields of education, health, trade, industry, etc., to serve the goals of social and economic development. This paper deals with the reality of Syrian society with regard to information technology, and presents the legislative and legal frameworks (intellectual property rights, privacy protection, and information security). The paper focuses on informatics in education and communications, research and development in informatics and communications, and the software industry.
