A case study on the famous social sciences information portal SOSIG discusses some of the portal’s characteristics. It begins with a general presentation of the portal, then discusses the portal as a model for an online academic library, the search capabilities of the portal, and the role of librarians in the portal, then discusses the role of reporters in building the portal and adding new sources to it. The types of these correspondents are presented, and finally the study discusses the project to establish national portals for the social sciences, ROADS.
