Uses of distance learning in libraries and information field

The article discusses opportunities for exploiting distance learning, especially those relying on e-learning systems and its software applications to support library and information specialization and support library services. It reviews global experiences of exploiting distance learning by all academic departments, library schools, institutions and professional unions, with a presentation of the reality of using learning. Distance education in library sciences in the world compared to the local and regional situation, and ends with a presentation of the e-learning center service implemented by some German libraries, in order to provide training programs for beneficiaries in libraries near their locations.
