Abstract

“Authority work” is generally concerned with determining the form of a name, title, or title of a series or topic that will be used as a codified header. Authority work also includes creating appropriate references to the header and its relationship to other headers in the authority file.

Recent efforts in the field of “Authority Control”, which aims to achieve stability and consistency in the form of the headers used in the library index or in the bibliographic record file, are focused on achieving use and sharing of authority data at the international level, with the benefits that this achieves in the form of: Reduce burden, reduce costs, and achieve better search and retrieval accuracy.

To achieve these purposes, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, established IFLA, which will be referred to hereafter as (IFLA): is one of the international bodies most concerned with the subject of indexing in general, and bibliographic control in particular, by establishing working groups for bibliographic records, authority data for names, and authority data for subjects, whose primary mission is to prepare conceptual models that define functional requirements. For bibliographic and authority records [1], in addition to undertaking the task of reviewing, updating and maintaining these models, and preparing indicative summaries and interpretive guides that help in applying these models and encouraging their use.

In the following paragraphs, the working group will address the functional requirements for authority data, the objectives of issuing the (FRAD) model, its components, and the tasks that the beneficiary achieves through it.
