Abstract

An analytical study of the "Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Data (FRSAD)" model issued by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) in 2010, with the aim of building a conceptual model for entities that relate to the subjects of intellectual works and creations, the so-called Aboutness of the work, providing a specific framework for linking subject metadata to the needs of the beneficiary of this data, assisting in global participation in the use of subject metadata, presenting its entities and the characteristics of these entities and the relationships between them, and showing how this model can be applied in the Arab environment. The descriptive-analytical approach will be used to study the model, and the empirical approach will be used to apply the model to a sample of headers contained in one of the Arabic subject header lists and monitor the issues arising from this application, through the design of a database of subject citation records that can be made available on the World Wide Web.
