Research data management repositories: A survey of international systems and a model for implementation in Arab scientific institutions

Abstract

  Managing and preserving research data topic is one of the hot topics around the world. Which has great interest in the scientific and academic circles due to the increasing importance of it, especially with the huge data revolution.

Despite the emergence of Repositories to save research data in the world for nearly 5 years, the Arab research data repositories still in its beginnings, as well as interest in research data in the Arab world, as well as studies that dealt with research data and how to manage, deal with and share them in our research institutions especially The Research data repositories project still very few.

The idea of ​​the study came to do a comprehensive survey of succeeded Research data management projects around the world and their Repositories systems to produce standards, specifications and a pilot project that we can apply to our Arab research institutions.
