Archive programs in library and information science schools: a comparative study between Algeria and some Arab countries

This study deals with a presentation of Algeria’s experience in training in archives, based on the training programs currently taught at the Department of Library Science and Documentation at the University of Algiers, and comparing them with the experiences of some of the leading countries in the field of library science at the Arab level, namely: Egypt, Tunisia and the Arab Gulf countries. The comparison was made in terms of : The beginning of training in archives, the names of institutes and departments, their specializations, the names of archive-related courses, their transactions, the ratio of archive materials to the rest of the training materials in the program, the nature of the training, years of teaching archive materials at all levels and up to postgraduate studies, such as master’s and doctoral studies.
