The information revolution, with the electronic publishing movement from the late twentieth century to the present day, brought about a set of changes that affected writing and writers, in form, content, concept, and dimensions. Talking about reading practices and their development in the era of information and communication technology brings us to talking about the history of the book and its development throughout the ages. This study seeks to discuss some questions, including: Has the “old” reader transformed and changed his habits in line with the increasingly widespread electronic means? Or are we facing a new reader? Is metatextual reading a development of incidental reading? What is the nature of the relationship between them? Is it a complementary relationship in which one influenced the other? Is it a cancellation relationship in which the new stage copies the old that preceded it?
