Abstract

The study addresses the definition of one of the most important Web 2.0 applications, which are wikis. It begins with the basic concepts about wikis and discusses the controversy related to them in terms of tampering with their contents. Then the study discusses the factors for choosing the appropriate application for implementing the wiki. Then the study addresses the general applications of wikis, as it presents the free encyclopedia Wikipedia, and finally it presents Study of a number of wikis specialized in the field of libraries and information.
