Disruption of Electronic Links in the Internet and its Impact on Information Retrieval: Cybrarians Journal as a model

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the disruption of electronic links existed in the reference lists of Cybrarians Journal. These links were checked on google engine during March 2020. The main results show that: 49% of the electronic links were disrupted; the disruption decreases as the years more recent, according to domain extension the disruption almost up to half to each domain. The researcher tried to find a solution to solve this issue by examining the disrupted links using (Internet Archive Wayback Machine), the result was satisfying as 39% of the disrupted links were retrieved, and the total percentage of the disrupted links decreased from 48% to 30%.
