Job satisfaction among librarians in Palestinian universities (Islamic- Al Azhar- Al- Aqsa)

Abstract

This study aims at exploring the level of job satisfaction among librarian in three universities in Gaza and knowing differences in job satisfaction which are attributed to gender , years of experience and place of work on it. The sample of study consists of (40) males and (15) females. The researcher uses a questionnaire for measuring job satisfaction. The results reveal that the level of overall job satisfaction is acceptable and the level is low for both salary and continuing professional development. They also reveal that there are no significant mean differences in job satisfaction due to gender while there are significant mean differences in job satisfaction due to years of experience and place of work. Employees who have more experience have more level of job satisfaction. The level of job satisfaction for Islamic university employees is higher than their counterparts at Al- Aqsa and Al- Azhar university.
