Abstract

Training in the field library and information is considered as one of the most important activities and a fundamental goal of professional associations and federations. Using the web as well as electronic media is a good way to develop knowledge, skills, communication and interaction, between professionals in the field.

This study is carried out to investigate the contribution of Arab associations’ and federations’ websites in providing information about training courses. It also attempts to evaluate this service through these sites, and analyze the content of those training courses. A statistical method is used to list all training courses delivered by Arabic library unions and associations through their websites. The course content of the training programs are analyzed. The combination of statistical and content analysis is aiming to produce more accurate results of the activities of the associations under study.
