Abstract

In terms of scholarly productivity of professional librarians, some people may believe that the role of a librarian is confining to shelving and checking out books, processing information resources in the library, and providing information services to users. One of the most important factors that may help a librarian to succeed in his/ her professional life is to participate in scholarly communication and to be a librarian-author or a scholar-practitioner. It is important for librarians to be involved in publishing in order to support the scholarly communication process. This study aims to reveal the role of librarian as a as a researcher in LIS Discipline and the role of professional associations in supporting librarians in this context.
