Information therapy (infotherapy): An experimental Study to prepare remedial program based on information to reduce the severity of some psychological problems among orphans at Orphanages in Alexandria

The purpose of the study is to study the Information therapy (Ix) Subject and shed light on what it is in the field of libraries; and to determine the role of Librarians and information professionals in the Information Therapy Process; and to verify the effectiveness of an information-based treatment program to reduce the severity of some psychological problems among orphans at orphanages in Alexandria, especially poor of self-confidence associated with inferiority complex, the lack of Psychological Reassurance, and Psychological Loneliness.
The study used the experimental approach, and the sample of the study consisted of (15) orphan girl, aged between 11 years to 20 years. the researcher has applied a measure of self-confidence of a researcher; a measure of the psychological reassurance; a measure of Psychological Loneliness of a researcher; and remedial program based on information to reduce some of the psychological problems that facing orphans, the remedial program consisted of (21) treatment session; as a number of applied training techniques: (Reinforcement, Role Playing, Problem Solving, Modeling, Home Work, Discussion, Lecture, The Technique of Detain Identifying Automatic Ideas and correcting them, Monologue Technique, Socratic Question and Guided Discovery Technique, Idea's Termination Technique, Imagination Technique, The Technique of Self-Monitoring, Cognitive Continuum Technique, Relaxation Training). Simple descriptive statistical analysis was utilized using SPSS version 15.5.
Findings:- the overall results showed a statistically differences between the prior and post measurement in Favor of post measurement in a measure of self-confidence, and a measure of the psychological reassurance. the study also showed that there were no significant differences in a measure of Psychological Loneliness; But there has been an improvement rate of (8.4%) in favor of the post measurement; suggesting that Feeling of loneliness has been reduced but not statistically significant between the prior and post measurement.
Originality/value:- The study brings to light the information therapy subject and its role in Libraries; and activating the role of the library Specialist in the community passing over the role of keeping holdings inside the library; and helping orphans in reducing some of the psychological problems that facing them through remedial program based on information.
