Abstract

This research deals z39.50 standard as an active tool used for information search and retrieval, it deal main issues about the standard; history, advantages, its relation with internet protocol TCP/IP, its applications in libraries, and its future which acted by the new generation of the standard : ZING, Z39.50 International Next Generation.
